| Elena Velasco is a well-known artist in the Washington theatre community. A member of SAG, AFTRA, and AEA, she has been performing for over ten years, having appeared at the Kennedy Center, Signature Theatre STAGES, Theatre Alliance, Discovery Theatre, Imagination Stage, Shakespeare in the Schools and in several films and TV shows. She has been pleased to be a member of Now This! since the fall of 2003. In addition to her onstage work, her directing credits include Seussical, Maricela de la Luz , Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Into the Woods, Anne of Green Gables, Anything Goes, Annie, Jerome Robbins Broadway, and El Viaje. Choreography credits include Seussical, Cinderella, Anything Goes, Oliver , The Giving Tree, and Bea and the Bug. Ms. Velasco has taught classes and conducted residencies for a decade at such youth theatre organizations as Imagination Stage, Classika Theatre, Interact Story Theatre, and Educational Theatre Company, with whom she serves as Director of Outreach. She earned her theatre degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Catholic University. |
